19th Annual Combined Talents
Florida International Competition

The Combined Talents Florida International is an annual, juried competition sponsored by the Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts. The competition is open to artists around the world who are 18 years of age or over. Artists may submit up to two works for consideration in the media of their choice. A $15.00 entry fee provides funding for the competition, including production of the catalog. Please note: the entry fee will be increasing to $20 for the 2005 competition.

434 artists entered this year's competition which required the jury to review approximately 860 slides. The jury panel consisted of two faculty members from the FSU School of Visual Arts and Dance: Lilian Garcia-Roig, Art Department (MFA, University of Pennsylvania) and Adam Jolles, Art History Department (PhD, University of Chicago). The jurors are requested to select works based on their own merit and must agree that the artist demonstrates skill within the chosen medium.

After much deliberation, the jury selected the work of forty-eight artists for this year's exhibition. These works represent a wide variety of media and are artistically diverse.

The exhibition opens on August 23 and there will be a reception on Friday, August 27, from 7-9pm. The award winners will be posted on Friday, August 27, 2004.
