Florida’s Art in State Buildings Program

SUBMISSIONS

• Calls to Artists are issued periodically with project descriptions and requirements.
• The Florida State University program maintains an open database of public artists. Artists are invited to submit applications on an ongoing basis.
• If desired, artists may update previous submissions to meet the requirements of specific projects that interest them.
• Entries/updates must be received by 4 pm on the deadline date.

To enter each project, send the following items to the address provided in the project description:

Statement
A brief Letter of Interest that explains why your artwork is perfect for this project and how your submitted slides address the project requirements. This should not yet be a site-specific proposal.

Resume
A current professional resume, emphasizing public art experience, public collections and public commissions.

Images – digital only please
A minimum of 10 & maximum of 20 digital images on a disposable CD that is clearly labeled with artist's name & the project name. Images should be in .JPG format with a minimum resolution of approximately 800x600 pixels (higher resolutions like 1900x1500 pixels provide sharper projected images).

Each image file should be named with 1) the artist's last name, 2) the corresponding image number on the ID Sheet and 3) the artwork title (use representative words of a long title). If the image is a "detail," please indicate that as well.

CDs should be formatted for the MS Windows environment. Any masking/borders should be black, not white. Artwork with sound or motion may be submitted as short MP3s.

The first five artworks presented will receive initial review. Don't forget to provide the committee with details/close-ups of large or complex artworks.

ID Sheet
Image identification page(s) that provides, for each submitted image, 1) the image number, 2) a thumbnail image of the work if submitting digital images, 3) title of work, 4) medium, 5) dimensions, 6) date of work and 7) price of work or amount of commission.

The ID Sheet must be headed with the specific project number and name, and the artist's name, address, phone number and email address.

NOTE: Statement, resume & Image ID Sheet may be included (as Word documents) on a submitted CD but a hard copy of each of the three text items must also be provided.

Galleries and artist’s representatives are encouraged to submit materials for their artists.
