Why do people join non-profit institutions? Simple explanation: because they are philanthropists and persons of good will. As Dean Emeritus, Jerry L. Draper used to say: "money is nice, but friends are nicer." Friends who are members bring much more than an annual donation; friends demonstrate that a Museum has a following, that it consistently offers exhibitions and hosts events of importance to its regional constituency. What we really treasure is the moral support of a membership. Membership defines our role in the cultural life of the community, and that means everything to us.
